StockTap TV Pub quiz app

A pub quiz app nobody has to download

Ask a table to download an app and you've lost half of them before the first question. With StockTap TV they scan the QR on the TV or the table, type a nickname and they're playing, in their phone's web browser. The questions go up on every TV in the pub and the answers go in on their phone.

Free for your customers. £34 a month for the whole pub. Nothing extra to pay.

Why most quiz apps flop in a pub

  1. "What's the app called again?"

App store, password, account, update. By then the round's over.

  2. It's on their phone, not your TVs

Everyone stares down at a small screen and the room goes quiet instead of loud.

  3. It only works when somebody runs it

No host, no quiz. So it's one night a week at best.

  4. Nothing comes back to the pub

They play, they leave, and you've no way to tell them about Friday.

Scan, nickname, play

The QR code is on every TV, so anyone who can see a screen can join. There's nothing to install and no account to make. Answers go in on the phone, the question and the scores go up on the TVs, so the whole room is in it together.

Short answer times make looking things up much harder, and the fastest right answers score most.

A Quick Fire question on a phone with four answers and a timer

It keeps going when you're busy

Quick Fire, the all-day quiz, puts five questions on every TV every 20 minutes and runs itself. Weekly and monthly leaderboards with prizes you choose give people a reason to come back and climb the table.

Players can join your pub's own email list, with offers by email as a separate tick box. Nothing is pre-ticked and the list belongs to your pub.

At Teal Farm, 57 customers played in the first nine days and 35 gave us their email for offers.

Lightning zaps across the TVs and phones as a Quick Fire round starts, then the weekly winner is revealed

Pub quiz app questions

Is it free for players?

Yes. Customers play free in their phone's web browser. The pub pays £34 a month, and that covers every TV.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It runs in the phone's web browser, so there's nothing to download from either app store.

Can I use it for my own quiz night?

Yes. Host from your phone and every question goes on every TV, then the answers and scores. More on quiz night.

What if the pub Wi-Fi is poor?

Customers can play on their own 4G or 5G. The TVs need your normal broadband, and a network cable to the TV stick or laptop helps in a Wi-Fi black spot.
