Setting up
How long does it take to set up?
About 15 minutes. Eight short steps on your phone: your TV, posters, pub details, your first offer, channels, a test round, your staff and your customers. You can skip any step and come back later. See the set-up guide.
What TV or kit do I need?
Any screen that can open a web page. A smart TV with a web browser, a TV stick (streaming stick) with a browser, or an old laptop plugged into the TV with an HDMI lead. Each TV shows a 6-letter code and you type it into your phone to connect it.
Can an old laptop really do it?
Yes. Press Go full screen and it keeps the laptop awake while it plays. There's a start-up file for Windows and Mac so it opens full screen every morning on its own.
What internet do I need?
Your normal pub broadband. The TVs need Wi-Fi or a network cable. Customers can play on their own 4G or 5G. If a TV is in a Wi-Fi black spot, a network cable to the stick or laptop is worth it. If the Wi-Fi drops, the screens pick up again by themselves when it's back.
Can you set it up for me?
Yes. Optional done-for-you set-up is £100, including your first month, for pubs that already have a screen that can get online. Local to Washington? We may be able to pop in.
Do I need to be good with technology?
No. Everything runs from your phone. If you can send a text, you can run it. Every set-up step has a "Stuck?" link, and a real person answers the emails.
Running it
Do customers need to download an app?
No. They scan the QR code on the TV or the table and play in their phone's web browser. It's free for them.
Is it in my pub's name?
Yes. The TV screens and the page customers play on show your pub's name. The customer email list belongs to your pub.
Will my staff need to do anything?
Very little. Quick Fire runs itself all day. There's a one-page staff guide that covers what customers scan and how to answer "how do I play?".
Can customers put anything they like on my TVs?
No. Shout-outs and photos wait on your phone, and nothing goes on screen until you approve it.
How many TVs can I use?
As many as you like. It's £34 a month for the whole pub, not per screen.
Licences and football
Do I need a music licence?
StockTap TV plays silent clips and doesn't replace your music licences. Any music your pub plays to customers, including the songs you play for Pop Bingo or your own music round, needs your pub's own licences, the same as now. Our post on what the music licence covers has the details and sources.
Is phone bingo gambling?
Played for fun with no prize, it isn't. If you want to give prizes, check the Gambling Commission's rules for pubs and your licensing team first.
Are the clips legal to show?
Yes. Every clip is shared under a Creative Commons licence that allows it, and the person who filmed it is credited on screen.
Does it show the football?
It doesn't show the match. Your own sports subscription does that. StockTap TV shows what goes around it: fixtures with SHOWING HERE on the games you're showing, league tables, the 3pm round-up, a kick-off countdown and the prize wheel. It never shows anyone's channel or logo.
Does it have live scores?
Yes. Fixtures, live scores, half-time and full-time screens, the 3pm round-up and league tables update by themselves for the leagues you pick. The scores in our football video are a demo replay.
Money
How much is it?
£34 a month for the whole pub. Nothing extra to pay. Founding pubs keep £34 for life. 14-day free trial.
Can I cancel?
Cancel any time. Your service carries on to the end of the month you've paid for, with no notice period and no fee. Nothing is charged during the free trial. The full terms, including how cancelling works, are on our terms page.
Is it actually running anywhere?
It's built on the screens that have been running at Teal Farm in Washington, Tyne and Wear, where Quick Fire launched on Tuesday 20 October 2026. StockTap TV is new for other pubs, and the founding pubs are the first to get it.
Does it cost customers anything?
No. It's free for customers to play.
