Pub events calendar 2027: event ideas for every month

Every date a UK pub should plan around in 2027, month by month, from Burns Night and the Six Nations to Halloween on a Sunday and Christmas on a Saturday, with a simple event idea for each and the lead times to start promoting.

Most pub events don't fail on the night. They fail because they were decided a week before and nobody heard about them. A calendar fixes that. You can see what's coming, start telling people early, and spot the quiet weeks before they arrive.

Here's 2027, month by month, with the bank holidays from GOV.UK and the sport we know about. Use it as a starting point and add your own: your local club's fixtures, the town's events, your pub's birthday.

How to use this calendar

  • Pick one event a month to do properly. Not every date needs an event. One well-run night beats four half-hearted ones.
  • Start promoting four to six weeks before for anything that needs booking, and two weeks before for anything else.
  • Fill the quiet weeks first. January, the weeks after Easter and early November are where an event earns its keep.
  • Keep your weekly events weekly. Seasonal events sit on top of your regular quiz night, not instead of it.

January

  • New Year's Day: Friday 1 January (bank holiday).
  • Dry January runs all month. Alcohol Change UK has run it since 2013.
  • Burns Night: Monday 25 January.

Idea: make January about value and low-alcohol choices, not discounts on pints. A Burns Night supper on the Monday works even outside Scotland. Our post on January in a pub has more.

February

  • Six Nations starts: Friday 5 February, with Ireland v England at 8:10pm.
  • Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day): Tuesday 9 February.
  • Valentine's Day: Sunday 14 February, the same day as England v France.

Idea: the Six Nations gives you five weekends of rugby. Our Six Nations 2027 guide has every fixture and kick-off time. A Valentine's Sunday lunch for couples works alongside it, in a different part of the pub if you can.

March

  • St David's Day: Monday 1 March.
  • Mothering Sunday: Sunday 7 March.
  • Six Nations final weekend: Saturday 13 March.
  • St Patrick's Day: Wednesday 17 March.
  • Good Friday: Friday 26 March. Easter Monday: Monday 29 March (both bank holidays).

Idea: Mothering Sunday lunch books up early, so take bookings from February. St Patrick's Day on a Wednesday is a good midweek night: music, a themed quiz round, a food special.

April

  • St George's Day: Friday 23 April.

Idea: St George's Day on a Friday is worth doing. Flags, a pie special and an English music round. April is quieter after Easter, so plan something for the middle of the month too.

May

  • Early May bank holiday: Monday 3 May.
  • Spring bank holiday: Monday 31 May.

Idea: two long weekends. If you've got a garden, May is when it starts to pay. A bank holiday Sunday with a barbecue, live music or a family quiz in the afternoon. Watch the end-of-season football too. If your local club has a big game, a pre-match quiz gets people in early.

June

  • Father's Day: Sunday 20 June.

Idea: Father's Day lunch and a sports quiz in the afternoon. June has no men's Euros or World Cup in 2027, so think about other summer sport your customers follow.

July and August

  • School holidays start in late July in most of England.
  • Summer bank holiday: Monday 30 August.

Idea: families in the daytime, garden nights in the evening. A kids' quiz on weekday afternoons, a summer music night, a garden party on the bank holiday weekend.

September

  • The football season is under way.
  • Christmas bookings open. This is when people start asking.

Idea: a "back to normal" relaunch of your weekly quiz after the summer, and Christmas booking packages on your screens from the first week. Our Christmas party bookings post has a plan.

October

  • Halloween: Sunday 31 October.

Idea: Halloween on a Sunday suits a family event in the afternoon. Hold the adults' fancy dress night on Saturday 30 October. Our Halloween ideas post has more.

November

  • Bonfire Night: Friday 5 November.
  • Remembrance Sunday: Sunday 14 November.

Idea: Bonfire Night on a Friday is a big one. Be the warm place to go after the local display. Our Bonfire Night guide covers it, and our Bonfire Night quiz questions are ready to use. Mid-November is quiet, so a Christmas quiz launch or a music bingo night fits well.

December

  • Mad Friday (the last Friday before Christmas): Friday 17 December.
  • Christmas Eve: Friday 24 December. Christmas Day: Saturday 25 December.
  • Bank holidays: Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December, as substitute days.
  • New Year's Eve: Friday 31 December. The New Year's Day bank holiday moves to Monday 3 January 2028.

Idea: Christmas falling on a weekend means two Friday nights in a row with everyone off work the next day. Check your licence hours early and put any Temporary Event Notices in by the end of November.

Looking ahead to 2028

Euro 2028 is being held in the UK and Ireland, from Friday 9 June to the final at Wembley on Sunday 9 July 2028. Newcastle is one of the host cities. If you're in the North East, start thinking about it in 2027: screens, the garden, staffing and licence hours.

Your weekly events still matter most

A calendar of big dates is great, but it's the weekly things that keep a pub ticking over: the quiz, the darts, the Sunday dinner. At our place in Washington, Tuesday quiz night starts at 7:30pm every week, and on Sunderland and Newcastle match days the spin the wheel comes out. The seasonal stuff sits on top of that.

How StockTap TV helps

StockTap TV puts your own offers on every TV on a timed loop, set by day and hour, with every play counted. Countdowns to your events, like Christmas bookings or a Halloween party, are live at Teal Farm and coming to founding pubs. Set up the next event once and it runs itself. See the offers and countdowns, or join the founding pubs.

Frequently asked questions

When should a pub start promoting an event?

Four to six weeks before anything people need to book, like Christmas parties or Mothering Sunday. Two weeks is fine for a quiz or a music night.

What are the bank holidays in 2027?

For England and Wales, GOV.UK lists 1 January, 26 and 29 March, 3 and 31 May, 30 August, and 27 and 28 December (substitute days for Christmas and Boxing Day).

What's the quietest time of year for pubs?

For most pubs it's January, with the weeks after Easter and early November not far behind. Plan your events for those weeks first.

What day is Christmas in 2027?

Saturday 25 December 2027, with bank holidays on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December.
